What Defines a Good Tier List
Factor
Why It Matters
DPS / Damage Output
Units with high damage clear waves faster and handle boss rounds better.
Area of Effect (AoE)
Being able to hit many enemies at once reduces crowding, helps in infinite / wave modes.
Range
Longer range lets you place units behind the front lines, often surviving longer & doing damage safely.
Utility / CC / Special Effects
Slows, stuns, cooldowns, bleed/burn — all help manage hard waves, or support other units’ damage.
Scaling / Growth
How well the unit improves with upgrades, hidden potential, traits, or the skill tree.
Cost / Upgrade Cost
Some very strong units are very expensive (in resources or “summon cost” or gems), so cost-efficiency matters.
Meta relevance
Some units shine in certain game modes (Story, Infinite, PvP, Challenges), less in others.
Current Meta & What’s Strong Right Now
From recent comparisons of multiple tier lists (Beebom, PCGamesN, PocketTactics, etc.), here’s how things look lately:
Top Units (S / Meta / “Meta Tier”) Units like Michishibo, Spider Boss (Chrollo), Magma Marine, Etri, Dark Wing, Supreme Leader, Killer (Serious) are repeatedly listed in top tiers. They perform excellently in many game modes due to high DPS, good AoE, or special abilities.
Strong “A-Tier” Choices If you don’t have much of the S-tier units, good A-tier picks include Fire Officer, Kuroma (Yoko), Freezer (Final Form), Tomi, Venus, etc. They usually have easier accessibility or fewer resource requirements while still being strong.
Situational / Mid-to-Late Game Picks B- and C-tier units are often useful early game or in modes where you don’t yet have access to top unlocks. They might have good traits or one good specialty (like crowd control, freeze, etc.), but tend to fall behind in raw output or scaling.
Traits / Skill Trees Matter Many tier lists also mention that a unit’s ranking can change depending on whether its trait bonuses, hidden potential, or skill tree upgrades are well invested. Even an “A-tier” unit can outperform a weakly built S-tier unit in some contexts if built properly.
